Centre of Excellence - The Big River First Nation Centre of Excellence for Business Development will be a facility providing adult education and business incubator opportunities on the Big River First Nation Reserve. The Centre will also offer skill development, job training and counseling for job opportunities, as well as post secondary opportunities.

Treaty Day 2011 - On May 25th, BRFN held its annual Treaty Day Gathering with a BBQ and festivities. Several booths were available for information and prizes, in addition to giving of Treaty Annuity payments.

 

Anglican Church - The ground has been broken and the building of the Anglican Church has officially begun. The new Church location is directly West of where it previously sat. We are looking for volunteers to help with construction; if you’re interested in helping out, phone 724-4700 and ask for Howard Morin.

Charter buses - The Band acquired three Charter Buses this past year. Two buses are fifty-four passenger and the third bus is a twenty-six passenger bus. The buses are being used for Youth Sports as well as for Elders trips.

 

Road construction 2010Road Construction 2010 - Last summer the main access road coming into the reserve from the Highway 55 route was re-aligned and clay-capped. Roadwork was complete in September.

 

ITEP GradBRFN - ITEP Convocation - The first group of students to attend the BRFN Teacher Education Program started the program in 2005, and four years later, 17 students graduated on May 22, 2009 with their Bachelor of Education Degrees. Click here to learn more.
